A play about a contemporary Aussie household by the author of Last Cab to Darwin.
A family in crisis. Dad's run off with a girl not much older than his daughter; Mum's struggling with the mortgage and her self-image so that she has little time for her teenage kids; the son's into internet porn and trolling the parks at night; and the daughter spends a lot of time alone in her room on a chat room or flaunting herself on the web cam. Her only friend is a chat room buddy who has serious problems of her own.
The Chatroom deals with these social issues in a thought-provoking and at times confronting way, as we look through a window into the internet world of young girls and the inherent dangers of grooming by predatory strangers
Featuring a very talented cast of teenage actors and seasoned Rondo regulars, the messages from this play are essential viewing for parents and their mid-teenage children and should not be missed by theatre-goers who like to be challenged.
Warning, the play contains strong language, rated M.
The first four plays in the season are currently available for Season Ticket Holders only.
