Classical Sunset - Music to make you Dance

Cairns Colonial Club, Lockhart Room, Behan Street, Manunda

In our second concert for 2018 the talented local musicians of the NQ Chamber Players will present a concert of music that is dance like or is inspired by dance forms.

Our guest artists in this concert are the popular Cairns Clarinet Ensemble. They will perform 5 tangos by Piazzolla – including his famous “Oblivion”.

NQ Chamber Players string quartet, made up of June Campbell, Sue Stitt, Margaret Pestorius and Juanita Burnett, will perform Borodin’s String Quartet No 2. This work was nominated earlier this year for listeners to select in the popular “Classic 100 Dance” aired on ABC Classic FM.

Clarinettist, Fiona Hamill, will also join with members of the quartet to play a work composed in the early 1800s by the Finnish born clarinettist Crusell.

This concert of dance inspired music -set in the beautiful surrounds of the Cairns Colonial Club –is not to be missed!
