Tanks Jazz Up North Subscription Series 2012
2012 is the year we bring you a star studded line-up of headline acts, including some of the very best of Australia’s jazz entertainers! These shows will be the hottest tickets in town and there is only one way you can secure your place, and that’s by getting a series subscription!
JAMES MORRISON opens proceedings in March. A virtuoso in the true sense of the word, James is a legend in Australia and acclaimed internationally. Besides the trumpet, this multi-instrumentalist also plays trombone, euphonium, flugel horn, tuba, saxophones and piano. KATIE NOONAN returns in April, with her sublime jazz trio Elixir, to deliver another entrancing performance at Tanks. Don’t miss STEVE CLISBY when he returns north in June. A favourite from the 2010 Jazz Up North series, Clisby entertains and delights with his smooth moves and cool jazz. PAUL GRABOWSKY & JULIEN WILSON pair-up in July to mark our halfway point, followed by the fabulous GRACE KNIGHT in August. Knight – of Eurogliders fame – impresses every time with a collection of luscious and sexy tunes. In October we bring you TRICHOTOMY, (who played at Tanks in 2008 as Misinterprotato), one of Australia's most inventive contemporary music ensembles featuring the talents of Sean Foran, John Parker and Patrick Marchisella. The stunning vocals of MICHELLE NICOLLE bring home the 2012 Jazz Up North Series, when she plays with a quartet in November. Known for her ability to get right into the heart of a song, her chosen instrument is her voice, delivered with clarity and beauty.
